Traditional Czech breakfast foods to try include fresh houskové rohlíky or veka bread, Prague ham (Pražská šunka), soft-boiled eggs, quality butter, homemade jams, pickled hermelín cheese, and sometimes even a small klobása sausage. Coffee is strong, hot chocolate is thick, and almost every café offers excellent pastries. Here are the ten places locals and experienced travellers fight for tables at – ranked for November 2025.
Address: Vítězná 5, Malá Strana (5-minute walk from tram stop Újezd). Opens tomorrow at 08:00, kitchen until 11:30.
Walking into Café Savoy feels like stepping onto a 1920s film set: 6-metre ceilings, restored Neo-Renaissance details, huge chandeliers and the smell of fresh yeast. This is where you come when you want the full “Grand Café” experience. The famous Savoy Breakfast set (around 395–435 Kč depending on the month) brings Prague ham, Emmental and Gouda cheeses, perfect croissant, warm houska bread, butter, jam, soft-boiled egg and the legendary thick hot chocolate that you’ll dream about for years. Eggs Benedict on brioche with real hollandaise and smoked salmon is another bestseller at ± 315 Kč. English menu, flawless service, reservations almost mandatory – book online the night before or try walking in at 08:00 sharp. Still the most highly rated historic breakfast place in Prague in 2025.
Address: Pernerova 49, Karlín. Open from 08:00 tomorrow (bakery from 07:30).
Eska is half industrial-chic restaurant, half working bakery, and 100 % delicious. Downstairs they bake some of the best sourdough and sweet buns (vánočka, koláče) in the country; upstairs they turn local and fermented ingredients into breakfast magic. Current autumn hits: whipped butter with fermented honey, potatoes baked in ash with browned butter and egg yolk, burnt-milk ice-cream with granola, or the classic Eska plate with house-made sausages and pickles. Expect to pay 300–450 Kč per person. No reservations for breakfast on weekdays – arrive before 09:00 or after 10:30 to avoid the queue. If you only have one “new-wave” Czech breakfast in Prague, make it Eska.
Address: Na Poříčí 15, Nové Město (near Náměstí Republiky). Open daily from 07:00.
The mosaic-covered masterpiece designed by Alfons Mucha’s pupils. Breakfast here is served either à la carte or as a very generous buffet (currently 595 Kč including unlimited coffee and fresh juice). You’ll find everything: cold cuts, smoked salmon, scrambled eggs cooked to order, mini viennoiserie, homemade lemonades, fruit, cereals, Czech yogurts and excellent barista coffee. Come at 07:00–07:30 if you want photos without people – the morning light on the tiles is unreal. Still one of the most beautiful café interiors in Europe and perfect when you want to feel like royalty on a random Wednesday.
Address: Národní 22, entrance from the passage, 1st floor. Open from 08:00 (Saturday–Sunday from 09:00).
Opened in 1902, frequented by Kafka, Einstein and Čapek. Huge space with billiard tables and original 1920s details. Breakfast menu is classic grand-café style but surprisingly wallet-friendly: French toast with maple syrup and berries 195 Kč, ham & cheese omelette 185 Kč, full “Louvre Breakfast” with everything for 295 Kč. Great people-watching spot on Národní třída and one of the few historic cafés that still feels relaxed rather than tourist-trappy.
Address: Bělehradská 17, Vinohrady. Open 08:30–16:00 tomorrow.
Minimalist white interior, big windows, excellent filter coffee and all-day brunch classics done right. Current favourites: truffle scrambled eggs on sourdough, shakshuka with feta and sourdough, fluffy buttermilk pancakes with berries and maple, plus a very good kids’ menu. Family-friendly (high chairs, changing table), English-speaking staff, no reservations needed for breakfast. Prices 220–340 Kč per dish.
Address: Františka Křížka 14, Holešovice (tram 6, 12, 17 – Letenské náměstí). Open from 08:00 tomorrow.
Industrial space that feels like Brooklyn landed in Prague 7. Avocado toast with perfect poached eggs 195 Kč, granola bowl 165 Kč, filter coffee refills free until 11 am. Everything is homemade, portions are huge, prices are almost suspiciously low for the quality. Outdoor tables when weather allows. Locals’ favourite for a reason.
Multiple locations (e.g. Vodičkova 11, Dlouhá 22, Malá Strana). Most open from 07:30–08:00.
Many Prague locals swear these are the best butter croissants and pain au chocolat in the city – and the price is still only 42–48 Kč each. Grab a few pastries and a takeaway coffee, or sit inside the tiny Malá Strana branch with marble tables. Ideal quick breakfast when you’re rushing to Prague Castle or Charles Bridge at sunrise.
Address: Na Florenci 15 (near Florenc metro). Open 07:30 tomorrow.
One of the original third-wave coffee pioneers in Prague. Their avocado toast with chilli oil, lime and two poached eggs is legendary (225 Kč), and the flat white is consistently outstanding. Great option if you’re staying near the main train station or bus terminal and need quality fuel before exploring.
Address: Krymská 40, Vršovice. Open 09:00–15:00 tomorrow.
Feels like breakfast in a fairytale wooden cottage. Homemade venison sausage, excellent scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms, sourdough from Eska, homemade lemonades and kombucha. Dog-friendly terrace, super relaxed vibe, still relatively undiscovered by mass tourism. Tram 22 or 6-minute walk from Náměstí Míru.
Address: Říční 8 area, near Petřín funicular. Open 09:00–16:00.
Farm-to-table café with its own hens and vegetable garden. Eggs any style from their chickens, homemade sourdough, butter and jams made on site, great filter coffee. Sit on the terrace and literally look straight at Prague Castle across the river – one of the most peaceful breakfast spots in the entire city. Perfect after an early-morning walk up Petřín hill.
All ten places are confirmed open tomorrow morning, November 20, 2025. Most accept online reservations (Café Savoy, Imperial, Eska and Louvre definitely require them). Prices are current as of November 2025 and include 21 % VAT. Enjoy your Prague morning – the city tastes best before 10 am!
